Why volunteer?

There are so many reasons why you should try volunteering at STH.

  • In a survey of employers, more than 70 per cent said they would hire a candidate with volunteering experience over someone who has never volunteered.
  • Helping your local community and supporting your local hospital can make a real difference.
  • Volunteering can help you find out if working in health care is for you.
  • Volunteering can help you learn more about other people, improve your English-speaking skills and help you develop more self-confidence

Who can volunteer?

  • We encourage people from the age of 16 to volunteer with us especially those who may otherwise be socially excluded. Please note some roles may require you to be aged 18 and over
  • No qualifications required. Just a caring and friendly personality
  • We look for people who can commit to 3 hours per week for a minimum of 12 months

What should I do next?

It is a good idea to think about what you would like to do and consider how much time you have available to offer. The voluntary services team recruits volunteers to a small number of opportunities every month.

The details of when applications can be received and the roles currently open will be updated regularly here
