The Department of Social Security (DSS) is responsible for most of the help available for people with disabilities.

The main benefits which might be applicable to you are Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance and Invalid Care Allowance.

Sheffield Carers Centre can offer advice and help to all carers i.e. anyone who cares for a relative or friend who, for one reason or another, needs help. www.sheffieldcarers.org.uk

There is a carers' support information line open Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 6.00pm. Tel 0114 272 8362

There is also a specific Carers Stroke Support group which runs twice a month.
