Clinical Effectiveness Unit

The Clinical Effectiveness Unit is of the Patient and Healthcare Governance support network within the Trust, and forms part of the Central Medical Directorate. The Unit provides specialist advice, support, education and training for Clinical Audit, Clinical Effectiveness and Service Evaluation.

We do this by
• Monitoring Dr Foster mortality rates,
• Supporting the implementation of National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) Technology Appraisals and Clinical Guidelines
• Participating in the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP)
• Ensuring that the Trust adheres to National Service Frameworks (NSF)
• Supporting the implementation and audit of any other national guidance and recommendations
• Participate in the other Local and National initiatives for innovational improvement

This provides the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the Trust Board and the Public with the assurances that we are monitoring important issues such as levels of safety, clinical quality and patient experience.
