Ultrasound
An ultrasound scan uses sound waves to produce images of internal organs, pregnancies, blood vessels and some musculoskeletal structures.
Ultrasound can take pictures of many areas of the body and can help to diagnose and monitor many different conditions.
There are ultrasound departments at the Northern General, Royal Hallamshire, Jessop Wing (for pregnancy and some gynaecology scans) and Weston Park Hospital.
