Clinical Neurophysiology

The department of clinical neurophysiology is staffed by neurophysiology consultants and clinical physiologists who specialise in tests for a range of Neurological disorders. We also have secretarial staff who arrange appointments and send results out.

We provide a service for adult and paediatric inpatients and outpatients in Sheffield, Rotherham, Chesterfield, Doncaster, Barnsley and Worksop. Out of area referrals may be accepted.

In 2017 the neurophysiology team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals became the third department in the trust to be awarded Improving Quality in Physiological Services Programme (IQIPS) accreditation. The IQIPS scheme was awarded by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and is a professionally-led assessment and accreditation scheme that is designed to help healthcare organisations ensure that patients receive consistently high quality services, tests, examinations and procedures delivered by competent staff working in safe environments.

If you need a test within the neurophysiology department you will usually be referred by a consultant neurologist. For a small number of tests we provide GP referrals will be accepted. Further information about our service can be found through the links to the side or below:
