Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists provide responsive assessment, treatment and advice to patients who have limited movement and function following surgery, trauma or disease. Physiotherapists work with individual patients to improve their strength, balance, mobility and overall fitness to enable them to return home safely or to a protected environment. As a provider of health care for local residents physiotherapists liaise closely with community services and agencies to ensure patients receive ongoing care and further admissions to hospital are prevented. As a tertiary hospital with several regional specialties such as spinal Injuries and neuro-medical conditions,
Physiotherapists have developed clinical expertise in the conservative management of complex/specialist conditions. They have a close working relationship with consultants and share their enhanced skills and advice with physiotherapy colleagues within Sheffield and in surrounding localities.
Physiotherapists also provide a large range of specialist Outpatient services for local residents and patients who have recently been discharged from hospital with musculoskeletal, neurological, medical or surgical conditions. They have close working relationships with consultants and other multidisciplinary team colleagues in the community so that appropriate patients can be referred onto other services and agencies in a timely way.
