Pregnancy
If patients become pregnant and have a gastric band in situ, this needs to be emptied for the duration of pregnancy to ensure mother and baby receive sufficient nutrition.
NB: It is important that pregnant patients who have had previous bariatric surgery are referred back into our service for regular monitoring throughout their pregnancy and post-partum.
