Acute Medicine
The Trust's Acute Medicine department is based across the three units at the Northern General Hospital. its primary role is to provide patients with a rapid consultant led service, assessing, diagnosing and carry out early treatments for medical patients from both A&E and GP’s.
Patients may stay on our Medical Assessment Units up to 72 hours from there patients can be either discharged back into the community, transferred to a specialty ward or transferred to an alternative Trust site.
The team see patients with a number of problems these include:
- General medical problems
- Acute elderly care
- Respiratory problems
- Diabetes
- Endocrine conditions
- Gastroenterology
- Stroke
