Portering and Transport Services
The Portering Department provides a comprehensive 24-hour service across the Trust which includes ambulance/patient transfers, equipment moves, collection and distribution of internal/external post, waste and linen.
Like all our staff, the Porters are trained in procedures for safe moving and handling to prevent injury to themselves and to patients and staff.
The Transport Department provides a comprehensive service which includes the collection of waste and dirty linen across the NGH site, the delivery of supplies and clean linen, a specimen collection service for GP surgeries in Sheffield and deliveries to Renal satellite units.
They can also provide assistance with the ad-hoc movement of furniture around the Trust.
