Refreshments
Refreshments are available in the main Outpatient departments and are provided by hospital staff or the Hospital League of Friends and WRVS. The main hospital dining room is located on C level Huntsman building and offers visitors a range of hot and cold meals.
There are vending machine facilities at our other Outpatient departments and around the hospital site.
Shops and cash points
There is a newsagents situated on Herries Road Drive.
Several smaller shops run by charitable organisations are situated in the Huntsman entrance, Brearley Wing and the Spinal Injuries Unit.
The Royal Bank of Scotland has a small branch at the Huntsman entrance with an ATM accessible from outside the building.
Social workers
There is a hospital Social Work Department situated on the ground floor of the Nurses Home. The department is open Monday - Friday from 8.45am – 5.15pm. If you have any problems you would like to discuss with a Social Worker please call 2714843, 2715853 or 2715032 and ask to speak to one of the the Duty Social Workers.

There is a WRVS café on A floor of the Outpatient block and another on B floor of the tower block. The main hospital dining room is located on D floor of the tower block and offers visitors a range of hot and cold meals.
There are vending machine facilities around the hospital site.
Shops and cash points
There is a newsagents, flower shop and confectionary shop situated on B Floor of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
There is a Royal Bank of Scotland ATM in the entrance hall on A floor of the outpatients block at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
Social workers
There is a hospital Social Work Department which is located at 6 Claremont Place. The department is open Monday - Friday from 8.45am – 5.15pm. If you have any problems you would like to discuss with a Social Worker please call at the department and ask to see the Duty Social Worker who will see you as soon as possible or call them on 0114 271 2967.
Volunteer services
We have over 2000 volunteers providing a range of services including:
- Welcomer Service
- Wanderer Service (helping you find your way around the larger sites)
- Volunteer Escort Service (arranging parking, meeting you and taking you to your appointment)
- Reading Service
- Ward Runners (running errands for you)
- Visiting Service (visitors can be arranged to see you on the ward if you wish)
All our volunteers have hospital identification badges and ‘Welcomers’ wear a turquoise top.
