Our Hospitals

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust manages the five NHS adult hospitals in Sheffield including:

Northern General Hospital
Royal Hallamshire Hospital
Jessop Wing
Weston Park Cancer Centre
Charles Clifford Dental Hospital

We provide around one million appointments and operations every year, offering almost all treatments available on the NHS.

While most of our patients are from Sheffield and the surrounding areas, around five percent are from other parts of the country. These patients come to us for specialist treatments which are offered in only a few NHS trusts in the UK.

We are a major employer in the area with around 18,000 people working in our hospitals and in the community. With more than 70 professions and a wide range of jobs, we are the second largest employer in Sheffield.

Our hospitals specialise in adult care, although we do look after new-born and premature babies. We then provide limited specialist services for children (around 4,500 every year) mainly in dental and ophthalmology departments.

We work closely with Sheffield Children’s Hospital, the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University to ensure we are always at the cutting edge of medical research and development to benefit patients in Sheffield and across the country.

The Trust’s self-certification against the conditions of its provider licence 2017-18 can be accessed here.
