Temporary changes to Royal Hallamshire Hospital outpatients access

Patients and visitors travelling to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital on Saturday 28 October are being advised that the entrance lobby and corridor of the main outpatients entrance of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital on A Floor is to be closed all day to allow heavy equipment to be moved on site.

In order for the works to take place, a crane will be situated on A Road in front of the main outpatients entrance on the A Floor – meaning areas along the whole length of the A Road in front of the building will be cordoned off while the essential works take place. Traffic flow will be maintained along A Road via a slightly narrowed route.

The temporary changes will not affect outpatients services, which will run as normal throughout the day. However, patients and visitors entering and leaving the building on the day are being advised to use the main entrance on B Floor as an alternative to gain entry to and from the hospital site.

The main alterations will be:

  • Pedestrian access to and from the hospital will be via the main entrance on B Floor (entrance 9)
  • Access into and out of the multi-storey car park along the A road will remain unchanged
  • Alternative disabled parking bay for blue badge holders will be available on B road
  • Access to the Eye Clinic (via entrance 1) will remain unchanged
  • The main outpatient entrance and lobby will be within the work-zone and will not be available for entry into or out the hospital.

It is anticipated that works will be completed during the day. However, further works to remove some components will be required on the following Saturday 4th November.
