Sheffield Teaching Hospitals achieves National Preceptorship for Nursing Interim Quality Mark from NHS England

We are delighted to announce that Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded the National Preceptorship for Nursing Interim Quality Mark from NHS England.

The quality mark is the national gold standard and is awarded to organisations who offer high quality preceptorship programmes with guidance and support for newly qualified registered nurses.

The preceptorship programme at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals was relaunched in September 2023 and has already enrolled over 300 members of staff so far. It is now a multiprofessional programme which includes nurses, midwives and allied health professionals. The programme aims to support and develop these newly registered practitioners to build confidence and competence as they transition from student to professional.

Professor Chris Morley, Chief Nurse at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said, “We are incredibly proud to achieve this national quality mark which recognises our continued commitment to providing a supportive space for our staff to grow and develop through their professional careers. We recognise how important the first year of a registered nurse’s career is in ensuring they thrive as a nurse and so have made ensuring that we have a high quality preceptorship programme a priority”
