Sheffield hospital dietetic team scoop triple award
Dietetic team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust win multiple awards at prestigious ceremony.
Several members of the team were recognised with a total of three awards at the British Dietetic Association (BDA) ceremony, which celebrates outstanding individuals within the dietetic profession.
Claire Loversidge, Dietetic Assistant Practitioner at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals was awarded the Dorothy Hopwood Award for Professional Achievement, which recognises a member of the dietetic support workforce who has made a valuable and significant contribution to the profession.
Claire was nominated by Helen Beagan, Specialist Dietitian at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, on behalf of her dietetic colleagues and patients to thank her for her 14 years of dedication to dietetic services in Sheffield and an impressive 30 years NHS services.
Helen said: "Claire always goes the extra mile to deliver a timely and high level of service to patients and their families with complex conditions on home enteral nutrition. She has significantly contributed to the development and expansion of the Dietetic Home Enteral Feeding (HEF) service in Sheffield. I want to thank Claire for the compassion and care she shows on a daily basis and for being a joy to work with!"
Claire said: "It was such a surprise to be nominated and shortlisted for this award, I feel very fortunate and valued indeed. On actually winning the award I was extremely overwhelmed but I believe my thanks go direct to the team that I work alongside. Without them, it wouldn’t be possible. I'm lucky to have great colleagues."
Amy Nutall-Allsop, Dietitian at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals also won an award for her work as a secretary/sponsorship officer for the Yorkshire Branch of the BDA. Amy won the BDA Branch of the year award with her group, which recognises one branch which has typified excellence and best practice each year.
Jenny Leyland, Specialist Dietitian for Critical Care at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is part of BDA Critical Care specialist group committee that won the BDA Specialist group of the year award. Jenny is the events officer for the team, who were recognised for ‘demonstrating excellent stakeholder engagement, consistently putting their members at the forefront of their activity.’
The Dietetic Service at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals provides high quality dietetic and nutritional interventions, support and advice. Operating across the hospital sites and in the community, it also provides an outreach service for Sheffield patients on home enteral tube feeding and to the renal satellite units in South Yorkshire.
