South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw ICS win Procurement Award

South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System (ICS) have won Procurement Team of the Year Award at the Yorkshire and Humber Skills Development Network annual conference.

The award went to all the procurement leaders and their teams from the NHS providers in the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw ICS and the Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG), recognising the joint working which has taken place across the constituent organisations.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, teams from the NHS providers in the SYB ICS and the five South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw CCG’s, worked collaboratively to ensure that General Practice were kept safe, providing valuable mutual aid and ensuring no GP practice closed at any time due to a shortage of PPE.

This partnership between the NHS Providers and SYB CCG’s procurement teams is an innovative step forward and unique within NHS procurement.

Andrea Smith, Procurement Director at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and SYB ICS, said, “We are delighted that our teams across the ICS have been recognised for the Procurement Team of the Year Award. The work of the ICS team has moved on tremendously over the years and has shown how relationships can be built with trust and commitment for the benefit of the patients of South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw.”

The Award was presented to Rory Browne (representing the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Clinical Commissioning Groups) on behalf of all the Heads of Procurement, including Andrea Smith (Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust/ICS), Nicola Woodhead (Sheffield Health and Social Care, Richard Somerset (Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust), Lynne Beedle (Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust) and Michael King (Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust).
