Minor Injuries Unit closed on Christmas Day

Make sure you choose the right service this Christmas

The Minor Injuries Unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital is closed on Christmas Day. It will re-open on Boxing Day from 8am to 8pm as normal.

For minor illnesses (eg severe sore throats, rashes, infections) you can attend the Broad Lane NHS Walk-in Centre, open 8am to 10pm including on Christmas Day.

Calls to your GP will be diverted to the GP out-of-hours service.

Pharmacies can also help with advice and treatment for a range of minor ailments.

The Accident and Emergency Department at the Northern General Hospital is open as normal over Christmas. Remember, A&E is for emergencies and life threatening illnesses and injuries only so please use an alternative service if your condition is not critical or life-threatening.

If you need advice or are not sure what service you need, you can call NHS 111 for free 24 hours a day.
