Newly refurbished Endocrine Investigation Unit unveiled at Sheffield Hospitals

A newly refurbished Endocrine Investigation Unit has opened its doors to patients at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The dedicated investigation unit, which is internationally renowned for the specialist care it provides to patients with disorders of the endocrine system including the thyroid gland, pituitary gland, adrenal gland and pancreas, has been extensively remodelled to create more treatment cubicles and consulting rooms, as well as a new reception and waiting areas. Additional facilities for staff have also been included in the new Unit.

The unit is one of 12 European Neuroendocrine Tumour Centres of Excellence in the UK. It is also the regional centre for specialised endocrine services.

Joanne Ferraby, Service Manager at the Endocrine Investigation Unit, said: “The newly refurbished unit will provide an even better environment for our patients and team members. We want our patients to have high quality care provided in an environment which matches the same high standard, and the new facilities now do this.”
