NHS Vaccination Centre at Sheffield Arena to move to new location

The NHS Vaccination Centre at the Sheffield Arena is moving to a new location.

From July 26 the centre will be based at Longley Lane, Sheffield, S5 7JN, adjacent to the Northern General Hospital, and will be known as the Sheffield NHS Vaccination Centre.

In line with the national roadmap out of lockdown, Sheffield Arena is planning for the return of concerts and events, and so the new site at Longley Lane, which was previously used by NHS Blood and Transport Services, has been identified as a suitable replacement vaccination site.

Dr Jennifer Hill, Medical Director (Operations) at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We would like to thank everyone at Sheffield Arena for their fantastic support and vital contribution to the Covid-19 vaccination campaign, which has made a real difference to the efforts to protect people and bring the pandemic under control.

“The new site will provide a large and suitable space for us to continue the vaccination programme.”

People who already have a second vaccination booked at the Arena from July 26 onwards will have their appointment automatically transferred to Sheffield NHS Vaccination Centre for the same date and time. If you are happy with this you do not need to do anything. You will also receive a text message reminder of the new location.

The new site will be signed Sheffield NHS Vaccination Centre, parking will be available and staff will be on site to welcome you.

People who would like to change their second dose appointment can do so by using the online booking system (www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination) or calling 119 free of charge.

The Sheffield NHS Vaccination Centre at Longley Lane is one of 50 sites across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw offering vaccinations.

Andrew Snelling, Chief Executive of Sheffield City Trust, which manages Sheffield Arena, said: “We are extremely proud of the role Sheffield Arena has played in city’s response to Covid-19 and the vaccination programme.

“As an organisation, our core values are promoting and enhancing the health and wellbeing of communities, so we have been very happy to support Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, the NHS and the Government in delivering the vaccination programme.
“Vaccination is of course crucial in enabling restrictions to be eased, and we are now looking forward to being able to welcome people back to the Arena to enjoy concerts and events.”
