Sheffield Octagon COVID-19 vaccination centre offering a walk-in service

The Sheffield Octagon centre, which recently opened as a second large scale NHS vaccination centre in Sheffield, will be offering a walk-in vaccination service from Monday 14th June.

The walk-in service will be open seven days a week, Monday to Sunday, from 8am – 5pm, operating on a first come, first serve ticketed basis. Any member of the public within an eligible cohort can use the walk-in service, or appointments are still available to book online through the NHS booking website.

The Octagon centre, which opened on 9th June, is located close to the City Centre, providing an easy to access location for people living close to the City and the two Universities, as well as for people across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw.

Hope Thackray, 28, who lives in Upperthorpe, was the first person to be vaccinated at the new Centre on 9th June. She said:

“I booked my appointment straight away after it was announced that people aged 25 and over could book for their COVID-19 vaccination. I live close to the City Centre, so it was easiest to book at the Octagon as it’s only a 15-minute walk away and it’s also close to my work. The process was simple, there were lots of signposts and people around to direct me and so I’d encourage anyone close by to go there for their vaccination.”

The Octagon Centre is located at the University of Sheffield, Clarkson Street, Sheffield S10 2TQ and is being run by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The centre will be delivering around 800 vaccinations each day.

Appointments can also be booked through the national NHS booking service here
