Jessop Wing reminds women to attend maternity appointments at this time

Sheffield Teaching Hospital’s maternity services are reminding women of the importance of attending their routine antenatal appointments during the current pandemic.

The service has noticed a reduction in the number of women attending both scheduled maternity appointments and those seeking urgent advice.

Paula Schofield, Head of Midwifery at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said “It is important for women to attend their antenatal appointments either with their Community Midwife or at the Jessop Wing Antenatal Clinic to ensure their personalised plan of care is followed. If you need urgent help or advice it is important that you contact us to discuss your pregnancy concerns”.

The Trust has introduced a helpline for women manned by midwives which is dedicated to Covid-19 enquires: 0114 2268091. If women have a fever or a new persistent cough or are in self-isolation due to a family member being symptomatic of Covid-19 they should contact the hospital before attending for any appointments on 0114 2268091.

“During this time women are urged to call our new Covid-19 line if they have any queries relating to Covid-19 and their pregnancy care.”
