Works due to start on ground-breaking MRI-PET facility at Royal Hallamshire Hospital

The University of Sheffield has raised £2 million to build a ground-breaking MRI-PET facility attached to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Building work is due to start early 2019 and you may have noticed preparations are now underway.

The scanner will be in a purpose-built facility on the corner of B Road and Claremont Crescent. The works will include building a two-storey building which will house the MRI-PET scanner, as well as associated laboratory facilities and staff.

As the construction progresses, there will be some changes to routes and journeys around the hospital site. We will keep you up to date along the way and you can also visit the scanner webpage for the latest information.

MRI-PET scanners deliver the most advanced imaging technology to date. MRI-PET will transform our understanding of serious diseases and the way we treat them in the future. This will be a vital investment in the health of people in this region, across the UK and beyond.
