Trust recognised as a ‘trailblazer’ for workplace inclusion

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been nationally recognised as a trailblazer in its commitment to being an inclusive place to work.

The Trust has been accredited as a Trailblazing Employer in Stonewall’s Proud Employers Accreditation Scheme – the highest level of accreditation. Stonewall is a UK charity that advocates for LGBTQ+ rights.

The trailblazer level of accreditation is awarded only to organisations that demonstrate true leadership, with exceptional commitment to LQBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace that inspires others.

Kirsten Major, Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to have been named as a Trailblazing Employer. We are proud of our diverse workforce and have worked hard to create a culture where all our colleagues feel supported and able to be themselves at work. Our LGBTQ+ Staff Network, and indeed many other colleagues across the Trust, work tirelessly to gain insight and take action to make our hospitals and community services an inclusive place to work and thrive. Staff that feel they are respected and are equally valued are happier staff that can provide the best care for our diverse patient population.”
