Congratulations to Dr Matt Wiles, Consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care, on the official presentation of the Featherstone Professorship by the Association of Anaesthetists.

The award recognises his academic contributions to multiple national and international guideline development groups with a focus on patient safety.
His major contributions as Editor-in-Chief of the Anaesthesia Journal have further advanced clinical standards in the specialty.
Dr Wiles accepted the Certificate at the Association of Anaesthetists’ Winter Scientific Meeting at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre, Westminster, London.
Dr Wiles said: “Receiving this award is huge honour and I am very grateful to the Association for this recognition. This award means so much because it reflects not just my effort, but the guidance, encouragement, and belief that so many others have invested in me during my clinical, academic and publishing work.”
Dr Tim Meek, President of the Association of Anaesthetists, said: “All of our honours and awards winners should be very proud. Their achievements are exceptional, they enhance the specialty of anaesthesia, and the Association is pleased to recognise them.”
The presentation of the Certificate follows last month's announcement that Dr Wiles had been selected to receive the prestigious international award.
The Featherstone Professorship is one of the Association of Anaesthetists’ most prestigious awards. It is awarded to practising anaesthetists, clinicians and scientists who have made a substantial contribution to anaesthesia research and to the specialty of anaesthesia and its related subspecialties. Only 12 previous anaesthetists have been recipients.
