SpecialtiesI am an adult and paediatric Neurosurgeon; my main workload in adults is degenerative spine, hydrocephalus and oncology. My subspecialty interests in paediatrics include spinal dysraphism including detethering procedures, antenatal counselling for brain and spinal abnormalities jointly with Paediatric Neurology and expanding our Deep Brain Stimulator service for children with dystonia and other movement disorders. Medical backgroundMy background is a UK trained Neurosurgeon. I qualified from Cardiff Medical School in 2002, I undertook a Basic Surgical Training rotation in South Wales and then subspecialty Registrar training in Neurosurgery in Cardiff, Swansea and Sheffield. I undertook an 18 month Paediatric Fellowship at Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane which was of invaluable experience for paediatric trauma, oncology and spina bifida. I was involved in the first Australian in-utero spina bifida closure in July 2016.
