Meet the Neurology Psychotherapy Team

Who are we?

We are Rebecca Murray-Leslie, Clare Donnelly, Kirsty Vickerman, Cordelia Gray, Jayne Acraman, Sarah Nicholson and Aimee Morgan-Boon (Team Manager)

We have a lot of experience between us of working in both voluntary and other NHS organisations, and training in different kinds of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EDMR, Integrative psychotherapy, Sensorimotor psychotherapy, Psychodynamic psychotherapy, Gestalt psychotherapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. We share our knowledge and experience with each other in order to work more effectively with patients accessing our service.

Who do we work with?

We specialise in working with people who may be experiencing functional neurological disorders (weakness, disorders of movement, sensory disturbances, balance), non-epileptic attacks and epilepsy.

Where do we work?

We currently have psychotherapy clinics in Barnsley, Doncaster, Bassetlaw, and Sheffield hospitals.

How do I get a referral to the team?

We accept referrals from Consultant Neurologists working at Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster and Bassetlaw hospitals. The referral route for diagnosis by the Consultant Neurologists is usually through your GP, or other hospital doctors following an admission or emergency treatment

After someone is referred to our service, they are initially contacted by post and asked to fill in a questionnaire. After questionnaires have been returned and received by the team (we provide prepaid envelopes), patients are added to our waiting list. When patients reach the top of the waiting list they are contacted by telephone or letter to make an appointment to meet with a therapist.

In the case of epilepsy, Specialist Epilepsy Nurses can also refer directly into the service.
