Day Case Treatment

Most patients who require treatment for osteoporosis are prescribed treatment in the form of tablets. There are however a small proportion of people who are unable to take osteoporosis tablets due to side effects and others who do not respond well to treatment, usually due to poor absorption of the medication.

In these cases, and in the treatment of some other metabolic bone diseases, we sometimes recommend intravenous forms of treatment. We have a dedicated day case area within the department where treatment is administered by the nursing staff.

Medical practitioners in primary and secondary care may refer patients to this service via the referral form which can be found here.
