Visiting times
You are welcome to visit at anytime during the day. We do not have set visiting times. Visiting overnight would need to be by arrangement. Please speak to the nurse in charge on the ward. In some exceptional circumstances it may not be possible to accommodate open visiting but the reasons for this will be clearly communicated to you.
We ask that there are no more than 2 visitors at the bedside at any time, unless special permission is granted by the Nurse in Charge.
If visiting late into the evening or early in the morning, please consider that other patients will be resting and be mindful of trying not to disturb them.
Only visit if you are well. If you have been unwell, please do not visit until you have been free of any symptoms for 48 hours. This includes cough, colds, vomiting and diarrhoea and other infectious diseases.
Use the alcohol hand rub provided on entering and leaving the area. Wash and dry your hands after visiting the toilet
Only sit on the chairs provided for visitors, rather than the patient’s bed or chair.
Use toilets designated for visitors instead of patient toilets. Avoid sharing your relative’s toiletries, tissues etc or items of hospital equipment with other patients unless it has been approved by a member of the nursing team.
Avoid touching your relative’s or friend’s wound or any devices such as drips or catheters as this could cause cross infections
With the exception of the Jessop Wing, visiting by children under the age of 12 will be limited to circumstances where it is acknowledged that it would be in the interests of the specific patient and or the child, to have agreed limited visiting. All such requests should in the first instance be agreed by the Nurse in Charge.
There may be times when visitors need to be asked to leave the bedside either for the care of the patient they are visiting or the care of patients in close proximity.
