The Sheffield Department provides a regional neurosurgical service for a population of 2.2 million people covering South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, and North Lincolnshire. Approximately 2000 adult neurosurgical procedures are performed annually and approximately 13,000 outpatient appointments are held each year in clinics at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Northern General Hospital and Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.
The neurosurgical unit is based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. We have 20 adult critical care beds and 32 adult neurosurgical beds (neurosurgical beds can be increased to 41 during periods of high demand).
