You can request a literature search on any topic to support your work, and we will send you high-quality evidence.
Research papers and information can be requested for a number of reasons including the development of guidelines, service improvement, care of a specific patient, CPD and research projects.
All you need to do is let us know what information you need, and we can do the searching for you. We search a wide variety of databases and aim to find the best available evidence for your particular clinical or non-clinical query.
If you would like to request a search, either email sth.library@nhs.net or complete this form.
STH staff members can also request articles free of charge. If you want to request a full text version of an article, you can complete this form. Alternatively email details of the papers you are after to sth.library@nhs.net
We are here to help you find and critique relevant information. The library offers a wide variety of information skills sessions, which are available via MS Teams or face-to-face.
To book or enquire, please contact us today sth.library@nhs.net
Do you want to be able to search for good quality information? This session will talk you through building a comprehensive search strategy and selecting relevant articles. Best delivered as a one to one.
This is an introductory session on the Knowledge and Library Hub, as well as the other resources we subscribe to.
This session looks at interpreting evidence by asking what is critical appraisal and why is it important? The session is typically structured around using a checklist on a relevant example of research.
The library can support you if you want to publish original research. The library can advise if you are getting started with research, the publication process and choosing a journal.
Knowledge Mobilization is the sharing, capture, creation, utilisation or reuse of organizational knowledge. The library can work with teams to ascertain how they can make better use of knowledge and information.
We offer support with setting up and running a journal club.

We use KnowledgeShare as our current awareness tool. If you sign up to KnowledgeShare, you will receive personalised email updates which help you keep up to date with current research to support your clinical practice and professional development.
You can tailor it to be clinical or non-clinical, broad or specific, and you can restrict updates to your setting or a patient age range. KnowledgeShare includes guidelines, policy documents and a wide range of summarised evidence so that you will not be inundated with primary research articles. You can select your updates to be sent monthly or two-weekly.
KnowledgeShare is available to all staff at STH.
