About the service

The clinic is split into two areas, the Anticoagulation Clinic and VTE Clinic (for patient`s who have had a blood clot).

Anticoagulation Clinic offers a service for patients who take Warfarin, suitable patient`s are able to attend Clinic for an INR check using a fingerpick test. Results are available instantly meaning no waiting for blood results. Nurse Practitioner then dose

For patients who a fingerpick test is not suitable, patients can attend both hospitals, or the drive through, for a venous sample- a Nurse Practitioner would then call the patient during a telephone clinic to advise how much Warfarin to take.

VTE clinic is an assessment clinic for patients with new VTE (Venous Thromboembolism) events (Blood Clots). This service offers both face-to-face and telephone clinic appointments where appropriate. The staff then assign appropriate follow up for the patients, this includes the Nurse Led VTE follow up pathway, further investigations or Consultant led follow up.
