The Sheffield Kidney Institute is the main renal unit based at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. We look after patients living in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire who have kidney disease and may need:
We have our own outpatient department, two inpatient wards and two dialysis wards at our Northern General Hospital site. We also have satellite dialysis units in Chesterfield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Sheffield (Heeley area).
There are consultant-lead outreach clinics in Chesterfield, Barnsley and, Rotherham.
There is a specialist joint Renal-Rheumatology clinic aimed at providing care for patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
We have a low clearance clinic which provides multi-disciplinary care for people with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) who may need dialysis or a kidney transplant in the near future. There is also a Conservative Care Clinic for those patients who have chosen non-dialysis (conservative) management of their CKD.
