Additional Information

Patients at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals will now benefit from quicker x-rays thanks to new pioneering technology

The Cardiothoracic Centre at the Northern General Hospital, is one of only four sites worldwide to have the latest innovation in angiography – which is an medical imaging technique used to visualise the inside of blood vessels and organs of the body.

The new software has been fitted to the hospital’s existing x-ray equipment and is known as XPER swing. It allows the patient to be x-rayed in one complete motion.

This means the examination is quicker for the patient and also helps the medical team make decisions as they receive more data on the coronary arteries.
