Clearing House Process

The Clearing House has four stages and looks at:

  • Application form – The personal statement is scored against criteria determined by the Trust and candidates are scored on selective criteria.
  • Course summary – The course summary (reference) is requested from the University. This is again scored against criteria determined by the Trust
  • Drug Calculation Test - Candidates will be asked to attend a drug calculation test prior to being invited to the Assessment day. Any candidate failing to score the required pass mark of 100% will be given a further chance to retake the test. Should candidates fail the test after these two attempts, their application will be withdrawn from the process.
  • Assessment Day – If candidates are successful in the application stage, course summary and drug calculation test, candidates will be invited to an Assessment Day.

Although every effort is made to offer a post to all candidates who successfully meet the clearing house criteria, the Trust makes no guarantee that an offer will be made.

A conditional offer letter is sent to successful candidates together with a date for notifying the applicant's intention to either accept or decline the employment offer. It is important that you notify us by this date.

  • Candidates who are unsuccessful due to one or more of the following will be notified appropriately:
  • Failing to successfully complete the Drug Calculation Test
  • Not meeting the Assessment Day criteria
  • Where a vacancy for a newly qualified staff grade cannot be identified

All offers of employment are subject to receipt of the following:

  • Successful Completion of the applicant's training programme
  • Satisfactory Health clearance
  • Pre-employment check in the Human Resources Department
  • Satisfactory references
  • Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Services Check
  • Recommendation by the candidate's University to access the professional register by the anticipated employment start date (previously notified by the candidate)
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and receipt of the candidate's NMC registration details

Please note: it is the applicant's responsibility to notify Recruitment Team if their personal details or circumstance change e.g. postal address, training completion date.
