At the beginning of 2016, the South Yorkshire Regional Services (SYRS) decided to merge three key areas of research which consisted of Cardiology, Renal, and Vascular Services.

This collaboration between the 3 areas has encouraged more research across directorates, increasing the SYRS portfolio. Not only has the portfolio increased but by encouraging the merge we are utilising existing skills within the team to boost recruitment and ensure a smoother research experience for patients and staff.
The team is currently being managed by Helen Denney and Louese Dunn.

Helen is the Directorate Coordinator for Cardiology and Louese is the Directorate Coordinator for Renal and Vascular Services
Assisting Helen in Cardiology is Research Administrator/ Data Coordinator, Amber Ford. Amber is responsible for the administration and data entry of Cardiology research, management of the Cardiology research portfolio, recruitment activity and is secretary at executive meetings, including support for the Cardiovascular Patient Panel.
Assisting Louese in Renal are Research Administrators/ Data Coordinators, Megan Bennett and Barry Gray. Megan and Barry are responsible for the administration and data entry of Renal research, management of the Renal research portfolio, recruitment activity and act as secretaries at executive meetings.

Chris Blackwell is the Clinical Trials Assistant for Cardiology, Renal and Vascular Services. SYRS coordinators are currently supporting 119 studies in total: 72 Cardiology studies; 35 Renal studies; and 12 Vascular studies. Separate to the 119 studies already in progress, SYRS have another 68 studies in set up at various stages.
