Other facilities
- Continuing therapy rehabilitation is provided in the purpose built therapy services building approximately 400m from SHC
- Radiology – plain “x-rays” and special investigations such as ultrasound, MR and CT scanning are carried out in the main building close to SHC
- Neurophysiology (nerve tests) are carried out at Royal Hallamshire Hospital
- Psychology services
- Pre-operative assessment for planned surgery is carried out by the central pre-operative assessment team on B floor of the Huntsman building (NGH)
Minor Operating Theatre
Since January 2015 we have been able to carry out minor procedures in our own operating theatre in the hand centre. It allows us to offer a more personal and responsive service for both elective and emergency conditions. This also reduces waiting times. The service has received excellent feedack from patients in addition to being very cost effective.
In 2013 Andrew Codd suffered a life changing accident with an angle grinder while working. He has undergone hours of surgery and therapy.

The money Andrew raised has been used to buy artwork for the ceiling of the minor operating theatre at the Hand Centre. Most patients are awake during their hand surgery so having something to look at is a great distraction and helps to keep them calm.
