Gynaecology

The Gynaecology Unit is a tertiary referral centre and comprises outpatients/colposcopy, day care, termination service, emergency admissions, early pregnancy assessment, general gynaecology, uro-gynaecology, oncology and the assisted conception unit.

The unit is a recognised centre for sub-specialty training in both Reproductive Medicine and Uro-gynaecology. The busy colposcopy clinic and outpatient hysteroscopy clinic are located on the ground floor of the Jessop Wing. The Colposcopy service has made a major contribution to quality assurance both regionally and nationally.

The directorate also provides a service in reproductive medicine with a particularly strong academic input.

There are specialised clinics for adolescent gynaecology, psychosexual counselling, urogynaecology, recurrent miscarriage, infertility and the termination of pregnancy service

The Gynaecology Unit is based in both the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Level 1 in the Jessop Wing.
