The Bone BRU has a dedicated team of scanning technicians, who have considerable expertise in a variety of densitometric techniques including:
•Dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) of the whole body, proximal femur, lumbar spine, and forearm
• Measurement of body composition using DXA, including the measurement of android and gynoid fat distribution
• Volumetric x-ray absorptiometry (VXA) of the proximal femur
• Vertebral fracture assessment (VFA) of the thoraco-lumbar spine
• High-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) of the distal radius and distal tibia
• Peripheral quantitative computed tomography (pQCT) of the radius and tibia
• Radiographic uniformity (RA) of the hand
• Dual energy x-ray absorptiometry and laser (DXL) of the heel
• Quantitative ultrasound (QUS) of bone in the heel and fingers
We also provide DXA quality control (QC) and technical consultancy services to internal and external organisations.
