Dr Lang Yang
BSc, PhD, CSi
Non-clinical lecturer in Biomechanics, University of Sheffield
Research interests
• Understanding the mechanical environment at fracture sites and how that modulates the biological processes of fracture healing.
• Quantifying the effects of osteoporosis and its treatment on bone geometry; bone tissue distribution and structure; and bone mechanical strength, with particular focus on the proximal femur.
• Development of diagnostic tools that accurately predict the risk of bone fracture, and perform accurate non-invasive assessments of bone strength using medical image processing and analysis programmes and the structural engineering models generated from medical images.
External positions
• Chartered scientist awarded by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine
• Corporate member of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine
• Member of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research
• Member of the European Calcified Tissue Society
