And the winners are... Thank You Awards 2016


Last night the Trust celebrated the 2016 Thank You Awards ceremony where the winners and highly commended nominees were announced. The awards evening was kicked off with a light-hearted video to introduce the nominees - check it out below!

 

The aim of the Thank You Awards is to recognise individuals or teams who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and all of the nominees this year are extremely deserving.

Patient Safety Award

Winner: Patient Safety Zone Team

The team have been recognised for their work in creating the Patient Safety Zone (PSZ), which helps to improve safety by ensuring patients receive the correct information, medication and treatment

Innovation and Service Improvement Award

Winner: Minor Ops Theatre Team

The Minor Ops Theatre Suite opened in 2015 with a vision of offering trauma
patients same day surgery, often saving
them a second or third trip to hospital.
By working together on a modest
budget, the team have succeeded in
reducing waiting times for patients (often from days to hours) and saving money for the Trust.

Patient Experience Award

Winner: Rachel Teasdale-Smith

Rachel Teasdale Smith is a highly
dedicated Occupational Therapist based in the Stroke Unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. She has been nominated for frequently going above and beyond the call of duty in order to meet the needs of the patient.

The Volunteer Award

Winner: Sheffield Church Council for Community Care (SCCCC)

SCCCC are a hugely committed team of mainly volunteers that co-ordinate a range of integrated services that support Sheffield Teaching Hospitals staff and patients. The team have been nominated for their commitment to providing an excellent service.

Behind The Scenes Award

Winner : Amanda Burns

Amanda was nominated in recognition
of the positive contribution she makes to the patient experience every day.

She is a truly caring person who will bend over backwards to help put patients at ease and make sure they get what they need whilst in hospital.

The Leadership Award

Winner: Jacky Rawlins

Jacky has proved to be a hardworking,
inspirational and creative leader since coming to Sheffield 17 years ago.

In her time at Sheffield she has led on and been involved in many new developments, including new theatres, critical care units and the Metavision electronic patient information system.

Patient Choice Award

Winner: Eve Garrett

Secretary in breast surgery, Eve Garret was nominated by a patient who is undergoing treatment for cancer, for making her feel at ease during her treatment.

Eve was praised for her excellent listening and organisational skills, which ensure patients, have all the information they need and reduces any worries.
