Public invited to Hospital Health Lecture

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is hosting a special event to give people the chance to hear about the importance of nutrition and hydration in both healthcare and the home.

The ‘Food for thought…and don’t forget a drink too’ event, to be held at the Medical Education Centre at the Northern General Hospital on Tuesday 23rd October 2012, 5pm-7pm, will feature expert speakers from the hospital talking about signs of malnutrition as well as giving examples of care in hospital, catering services and advice on tackling problems such as swallowing.

Elaine Cotton, Head of Dietetics at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to find out more about the ways in which we’re working to improve nutrition and hydration for patients. One million older people living in their own homes in the UK are suffering from malnutrition so the involvement of patients and the public is essential if we’re to address this national issue in Sheffield. I strongly encourage people to come along to this event to find out more.”
