How you can help our hospitals be green

The Trust is asking you, the local community, to consider your day-to-day actions to help us become become more sustainable.

We hope to work together with you to protect our own health and reduce our own contributions to climate change.

Have a think about all your routines, what could you change to help make sure Sheffield becomes a more sustainable city?

Keeping Healthy


A great way to help fight climate change is to look after your health and help others to be healthy.

By ensuring you are healthy, together we can place less pressure on the NHS to provide healthcare, helping us be more a more sustainable hospital.

How could you reduce your carbon footprint?

The ideas below will both help you reduce your personal carbon footprint and will also help the Trust in becoming more sustainable.

Did you know?

Insulating your home keeps it warmer and drier, making it a healthier place to live and reduces your carbon footprint.

Visiting our hospitals

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust encourages Sustainable Travel where possible, especially for our staff. Sometimes there are easier and greener ways to get to the Hospital, whether you are visiting or working here.

By walking or cycling

Walking and cycling are good for your health and if you are not coming too far, can be the quickest, most convenient way to travel. For information on routes, have a look on www.walkit.com  or for cycle routes click here

Consider a car share

By visting this site you can register any journeys you want to make and you might find someone doing the same trip who you could share a lift with.

You can then half the cost of fuel and parking for your journeys. If you sign up you are under no obligation to share with anyone, but you can just have a look at who else has signed up and is making the same journey.
